This thriving island paradise is coveted by world class travelers, investors and celebrities from all over the world. Travel and Leisure Magazine rated Kauai as second best place in the world to go, second only to Bali Indonesia in last two years and in July of 2010 the magazine rated Kauai as the best of the Hawaiian Islands. For a market snapshot of Kauai real estate, in February 2011 the median price of Kauai homes for sale, island wide, was $442,000 meaning that half of Kauai Homes for sale were under this amount and half were over, however breaking it down to the five island districts the numbers are more interesting, for instance in the Waimea District this number is $250,000, for the Koloa District $825,000, the Lihue District $364,000, the Kawaihau District $378,500 and the Hanalei District $1,850,000. There were 27 homes sold island wide in February 2011, 56 for the entire year of 2011. The highest priced Kauai homes for sale sold for $8,500,000, the lowest priced Kauai homes for sale sold for $222,900. The median price of a Condominium on Kauai, for the month of February 2011, was $270,000. Again breaking that down to Kauai’s five districts, the Waimea District had no sales in February 2011 of Kauai condos. The Koloa District had a median condo price of $250,000, Lihue condos were $130,000. On the east side, Kawaihau District, the median price for a condo was $128,750 and last the Hanalei District had median price of $350,000 for condominiums. Kauai Public Schools and Kauai Private Schools

There are four public school complex-areas in Kauai County which includes the island of Niihau. Each complex-area has a high school (Kauai High, Kapaa High and Waimea High) plus multiple feeder schools (Elementary and Middle schools). Kauai has several private schools as well, including the highly-rated “Island School” near the 200 acre Kauai Community College in Lihue. The Kauai Community College in Lihue is part of the University of Hawaii system in this state meaning some of their classes are accredited for “UH”.
